Clear and reuse a key fob or access card

If a key fob has been returned and needs to be registered again, use the Parakey app to clear it. You need to have the physical key fob at hand.

Written by Amanda Ivarsson

You need to be an administrator for the site where the key fob is registered and have an Android phone with NFC. Support for programming and managing key fobs on iOS is under development.

Clear the key fob in the Android app

  1. Select the site in the Parakey app and open the function for managing key fobs and access cards.

  2. Choose to remove the key fob through the app.

  3. Hold the key fob against your phone’s NFC reader and follow the instructions until it has been cleared.

Parakey’s information is removed from the key fob, and the key fob can be registered again.

💡 Once the key fob has been removed, the change is automatically transferred to its previous locks in the background during mobile unlocks. All users with mobile access help with this, on both Android and iPhone. The change takes effect at each lock once it has reached it.

Register the key fob again

Register the key fob at the site where it will be used, then choose which locks it can open in the web portal. The new access rights are also transferred automatically during mobile unlocks.

❗ Do not choose permanent deletion in the web portal if the key fob will be reused. That action is intended for lost or broken key fobs and cannot be undone.

If the key fob is being passed on to another person at the same site

If you only want to change the key fob’s name or which locks it can open, do this in the web portal. Clearing is used when you want to remove the registration and start again.
