Unlock with a key fob or access card

With a registered key fob or access card, you can unlock without using your phone. The person responsible for the site decides which locks you can open.

How to unlock

  1. Hold the key fob or access card against the reader on Parakey Door Handle or Parakey Cylinder.

  2. Wait for the green light.

  3. Press down the handle or turn the cylinder’s knob to open the door.

💡 The key fob is read on the lock itself. The Parakey NFC sticker, which you tap with your phone, is not a reader for key fobs or access cards.

Do I need a phone?

No, you do not need a phone when using your ready-to-use key fob. The key fob must be registered and have been given access to the lock before you start using it.

If the key fob does not have access to the door

If the key fob does not have access, the lock makes a sound and lights up red. Ask the person responsible for the site to check the key fob’s access rights. New or changed rights are transferred automatically in the background when an authorised user unlocks that lock with their phone.

Key fobs work with Parakey Cylinder and Parakey Door Handle that support key fobs. Key fob support for Parakey Slim is planned but is not currently available.

If you lose the key fob

Notify the person responsible for the site as soon as possible so that access can be removed and you can get help with a replacement.
