What are "Background app activities"?
Background app activities are a standard feature used by apps to update information in the background.
By keeping this feature enabled for the Parakey-app, keys can be downloaded and updated in the background. This means that the app:
Always is ready to unlock doors, even if you haven't used it for a while.
Works more reliably if you don't have an internet connection.
💡 All Parakey hardware unlocks offline via Bluetooth, but if you have been offline for too long, the app needs to verify that your keys are valid for security reasons. This verification is done automatically as soon as you have an internet connection. After that, you can use Parakey offline again.
How to Enable Background app activities
If you have disabled this feature, follow these steps to re-enable it:
iOS
Open Settings on your device.
Make sure that Background app activities are enabled under General settings.
Search for Parakey in the settings.
Turn on the toggle for Background app activities.
Android
For Android, Battery optimization and Background data usage can affect how the Parakey-app downloads and updates keys in the background. Follow these steps to disable battery optimization and allow background data:

Disable battery optimization
Open Settings on your device.
Go to Apps and select Parakey.
Go to Battery.
Disable battery optimization for the app (this step may vary depending on your device).
Allow Background data usage
Open Settings on your device.
Go to Apps and select Parakey.
Go to Mobile data.
Enable the toggle for Background data.
💡 If Data Saver is enabled, make sure to also turn on Unrestricted data usage.
