Here’s how to transfer ownership of a lock to another place within an organization, i.e., restructure the lock structure.

Example use case

You have a property where you want to restructure which locks belong to the place and its sub places – for example, transfer ownership of a lock from the property's main place to a sub place in the structure, or vice versa.

By using the Transfer lock feature, anyone with the role of Owner, Administrator, or Installer can easily transfer ownership without having to remove the lock from one place and then add it to another.

❗️Do not use this function if you're physically moving a device – in that case, you must remove the lock from the previous place and then add the lock to the new one.

💡 When you transfer ownership, the lock is automatically shared back to the place it was transferred from. This means that all existing keys will still include the lock, and all users who had access before the transfer will continue to have it afterward.

How to transfer ownership

  1. Make sure you have the role of Owner, Administrator, or Installer on both the place you're transferring from and the one you're transferring to.

  2. Go to Locks and press the lock you want to transfer ownership of.

  3. Press Options, then Transfer lock.

  4. Search for the place you want to transfer the lock to, then press Save to complete the transfer.

Ownership has now been transferred – please note that the lock is still shared with the previous place.

💡 If the previous place should no longer have access, you must manually remove the sharing.
