Bluetooth is a technology used to communicate with nearby devices, such as wireless headphones or your car. Parakey uses Bluetooth to unlock doors.

Doesn’t Bluetooth drain the battery?

For over 10 years, smartphones have supported Bluetooth Low Energy, which uses very little battery – and Parakey makes use of this technology. Browsing the web on your phone for 30 seconds uses more battery than having Bluetooth enabled all day.

Do I need to pair my phone with the lock?

No, Parakey only uses Bluetooth to detect nearby devices. The signal is transmitted via Bluetooth Low Energy and does not require pairing with the lock to unlock it.

How secure is Bluetooth?

Security is a top priority at Parakey. All communication is two-way encrypted to ensure that no unauthorized parties can access the information. Feel free to read more about Parakey’s security.
