Which alarm systems work with Parakey?

Parakey works best with alarm systems that support alarm control and alarm status feedback. Here we briefly explain what that means and why Parakey Slim is used for this type of installation.

Parakey can be used together with many commercial alarm systems. For best performance, we recommend systems that have an input for alarm control and an output for alarm status feedback.

This type of functionality is common in commercial alarm systems and enables Parakey Slim to interact with the alarm, often in connection with an authorized user unlocking a door.

Why alarm control and alarm status feedback are important

With alarm control, Parakey Slim can send a signal to the alarm system, for example to disarm the alarm upon an approved entry in the morning.

With alarm status feedback, the installation can adapt its behavior depending on whether the alarm is armed or disarmed. For example, this can be used to block exit buttons, keep night locks/motor locks locked when the alarm is armed, or enable features such as scheduled alarm control and “temporary alarm pause”.

Parakey Slim is used for alarm control

Parakey Slim is the device used for alarm control in Parakey installations. Typically, the control takes place in connection with unlocking a door, but the exact setup depends on the door environment, locking solution, and desired behavior.

For examples of common wiring configurations, see our wiring diagrams for Parakey Slim, such as day lock with alarm disarming, day and night lock with alarm control, as well as scheduled alarm control and temporary alarm pause.
